the camera has been left indoors for much of our summer days. but these little glimpses of life around here are fun to look back on. andy’s parents came to visit at the end of june, and, as always, the kids loved every second with our much missed cali family. the kids have helped make loads of goodness. from cookies, to papa jay’s birthday cake, berries, and barbecues, we’ve had all kinds of fun with friends and food, as well as great times of rest this summer. i have found myself more refreshed than years past when it comes time to start school again, and i feel like it was such a good, slow, past couple of months.
we set up camp chairs around our deck and spent some of the breezy mornings outside, drinking coffee and eating crepes. our deck is needing some work, so we don’t really do too much out there, but one of these days we will find the perfect table & fit for our outdoor space. we have so much green around us, from indoors or out, we love the all the beauty that surrounds us.
the big kids went to youth camp for a week, and things were just so different with three kids instead of five. i love the loud, and the chaos, and of course feeding all of these faces. while i do like my times of quiet, for the most part, things were just a bit too quiet for us. and we missed them like crazy. but, they had a blast (as always), and when they came home zion & axel decided to decorate the table with balloons, and fill some of them with candy. the bigs loved it and had fun reading all of zion’s sayings, and popping balloons to find candy inside.
and ottie started chewing gum a few weeks ago. it’s her absolute favorite thing right now. she asks me for a piece multiple times a day, and she will chew it for hours at a time. it’s pretty impressive.
andy and i just celebrated eighteen incredible years together. he still rocks my world. we are so happy, and we love every single second with these wonderfuls of ours. happy (end of) summer to all of you and the wonderfuls in your life. xo
